David Murgadas és un dels guitarristes catalans més prolífics dins el món guitarrístic català. De formació clàssica a l’Escola d’Arts Musicals Luthier de Barcelona al Conservatori Superior de Música d’Alacant, s’especialitza també en el repertori del Renaixement i Barroc i amb els instruments antics de corda polsada a l’ESMUC amb Xavier Díaz-Latorre i al Conservatori de Toulouse amb Beatrice Pornon.

Des de l’any 1995 és professor al Conservatori Professional de Música d’Igualada i ha realitzat una gran tasca en  proveir de repertori i material pedagògic els alumnes de guitarra de grau professional, així com crear arranjaments per les orquestres de guitarra o grups de cambra amb guitarra.

Dins el repertori que recentment hem editat a Brotons & Mercadal, Edicions Musicals trobem diverses peces per a guitarra sola, com les seves Vuit peces per a guitarra o arranjaments  de peces tan populars com El testament d’Amèlia o L’estaca de Lluís Llach.

Els seus arranjaments per a quartet o orquestra de guitarres es basen en donar a conèixer l’obra de grans compositors com Francisco Tárrega, amb Recuerdos de La Alhambra, o Santiago de Murzia (compositor del s. XVIII) amb l’edició ja disponible de Los Ympossibles o Gaitas.

DAVID MURGADAS, composer and guitarrist

David Murgadas is one of the most prolific Catalan guitarists. Classically trained at the Escola d’Arts Musicals Luthier de Barcelona and Conservatori Superior de Música d’Alacant (Alicante), he also specializes in Renaissance and Baroque repertoire with early plucked string instruments at the ESMUC (Escola Superior de música de Catalunya) with Xavier Díaz-Latorre and at the Toulouse Conservatory with Beatrice Pornon.

Since 1995, he is a teacher at the Conservatori Professional de Música d’Igualada i he has done a great job in providing repertoire and teaching materials for professional-level guitar students, as well as creating arrangements for guitar orchestras or chamber music groups.

Brotons & Mercadal, Edicions Musicals has recently published several pieces for solo guitar, such as his Vuit peces per a guitarra (Eight pieces for guitar) or arrangements of well-known pieces as El testament d’Amèlia or L’estaca by Lluís Llach.

His arrangements for guitar quartet or guitar ensemble are based on making known the work of great composers such as Francisco Tárrega, with Recuerdos de La Alhambra, or Santiago de Murzia (18th century composer) with the edition of Los Ympossibles or Gaitas.
